What Training is Available?

A Compressed Air Systems Education Course has been developed by the University of Waikato and has been adopted by EECA as a prerequisite to accreditation under the CAS Auditor Accreditation Scheme.

Course Title“Special Topic in Materials and Process Engineering – Best Practice Operation of Industrial Compressed Air Systems”.

Who is Running the Course?

The University of Waikato is both the developer and deliverer of the CAS Education Course. The course is delivered by tutors (both academic and practical) and utilises compressed air training facilities on the University campus.

Course Components

To ensure that applicants have sufficient background to get the most out of the course there are some practical experience requirements for course entry.  The CAS education course includes both theory and practical components.

Education Requirements for CAS Auditor Accreditation

The education requirements for CAS Auditor Accreditation are in part met by successfully completing the Compressed Air Systems Education Course.

The Course involves both Course Work and a Final Exam.  The Final Exam account for 40% of the total mark from the course while the Course Work marks are made up as follows:

2 Essays                              20% (10% each)
2 Assignments                      15%
4 Lab/site visit Reports          20%
1 Presentation                        5 %

How long does the course take?

The University of Waikato course is distance learning combined with a practical hands-on component. The full course covers one university semester - about 4 months, requiring a total commitment of around 70 to 110 hours study time and 32 hours practical learning  conducted over two 2-day blocks.

Following successful completion of the education course, applications for CAS Auditor Accreditation can be submitted to EMANZ. The processing of an application by EMANZ is expected to be completed within 6 weeks of receipt.  Further details here.

How much will it cost?

The attendance fees for the University of Waikato education course are $422 + GST for ‘graduate diploma’ enrolments (that qualify for the Tertiary Education Commission subsidy) and $1,937 + GST for ‘continuing education’ enrolments. These fees exclude any specific application fees, which (if applicable) will be detailed by the University at the time of registration.
